Wedding Cake Flavour Menu 2024

At Northern Lights Cakery, we are passionate about making cakes that taste as good as they look. Using fresh, local ingredients wherever possible, our personally curated flavour menus are inspired by the seasonal display in our beautiful local Argyll. Most of our flavours can be modified to accommodate specific dietary requirements. 

Spring/summer flavours

Pina Colada

Coconut, Rum and Pineapple Sponge, with Rum and Pineapple jam and Coconut Buttercream. 


Strawberries and Cream 

Light Vanilla and Strawberry marbled sponge, with chopped fresh strawberries and Chantilly buttercream. 


White Chocolate and Passionfruit

White chocolate sponge, with passionfruit curd and white chocolate buttercream.


Lemon and Elderflower

Beautifully balanced, slightly zingy, lemon and elderflower sponge cake with lemon buttercream. 


Honey and Orange Blossom

Rich honey cake, with the freshness of orange blossom coming through. Honey and orange buttercream. 


Lemon and Raspberry 

Zesty lemon sponge, filled with delicious raspberry buttercream. 


Raspberry and White Chocolate

Raspberry and white chocolate sponge, filled with raspberry buttercream. 


Rhubarb and Rosewater

Delicious Rose sponge, filled with tangy Rhubarb compote and finished with Rose buttercream.


Cookies and Cream

Dark chocolate sponge with bits of Oreo cookie throughout, sandwiched with light vanilla buttercream with Oreo bits.

Autumn/winter flavours

Gingerbread 

Ginger and molasses sponge with a touch of cinnamon and allspice, filled with salted caramel and topped with ginger spiced buttercream. 


Dark Chocolate, Espresso and White Chocolate

Rich Dark Chocolate and Espresso cake, sandwiched with White Chocolate Buttercream. 


Apricot and Amaretto

Delicious Apricot and Amaretto Sponge, filled with a lightly spiced vanilla buttercream, with a shot of Amaretto and a swirl of Apricot Compote.


Spiced Toffee Apple 

Apple and cinnamon sponge, filled with salted caramel and topped with cinnamon buttercream. Dark chocolate, cherry and tonka bean Sumptuous dark chocolate sponge, filled with cherry compote and topped with tonka bean infused buttercream 


Coffee and Cardamom

Lightly spiced coffee and cardamom sponge, filled with coffee buttercream. 


Salted Caramel Popcorn 

Light caramel sponge, filled with salted caramel and topped with popcorn-infused buttercream. Spiced pear Dark and spicy pear cake, filled with pear compote and topped with spiced buttercream. 


Maple Chai 

Maple sponge with hints of cardamom, cinnamon and ginger, drizzled with maple syrup and topped with chai spiced buttercream. 


Madagascan Vanilla 

Light vanilla sponge, filled with home made jam and topped with madagascan vanilla buttercream. 


Golden Toffee

Delicious golden toffee sponge, filled with salted caramel and toffee buttercream.


Double Chocolate 

Sumptuous chocolate sponge, drizzled in espresso syrup and topped with chocolate buttercream. 


Cherry Bakewell 

Almond sponge, filled with cherry jam and topped with madagascan vanilla buttercream.

Rich red velvet cake topped with Madagascan Vanilla buttercream.
